The Government of Uttar Pradesh established a separate wing with the name of Legal Metrology Wing under the 'Department of Consumer Protection and Weights and Measures' which has been made responsible for protecting consumer’s interest.
The basic aim of the Legal Metrology Department is to establish the standards of various weights and measures including weighing and measuring instruments and enforce their use in transaction and protection and thereby to protect the consumer rights by ensuring the quantitative accuracy in commercial transactions.
NIC UP State Unit has taken up the task of computerisation of various services of the department and recently implemented the Department Portal with citizen services portal and role based & work flow based officers’ Services Dashboard.
In the process of project implementation, one four day training/workshop organised during 18th – 21st July 2018. The workshop has been attended by the 50 official of the rank Deputy Controllers, Assistant controllers and Lab inspectors from different location offices of the department.
Sri. Ram Manohar Mishra, Controller, Legal Metrology Department, addressed the inaugural session and briefed about the importance of the project.
Mrs. Amita Srivastava, STD, Mrs. Shruti Pant, Scientific Officer ‘SB’ and team members provided the lectures and hands on training on the project. Mr. Ashesh Agrawal, STD & ASIO addressed the guiding sessions on best practices during operating on the automated system.
The training was conducted at UPTEC, Lucknow. At the end the participation certificates have been distributed to the participants.
